Are you kidding! This is the food of the gods! Everything is so good!!! Add some slaw and a shiner and you'll understand why songs are written about this place. On the down low... Not a fan of the potato salad. The line gets long so be patient. Don't be afraid to ask the pitmaster for suggestions. They are nice and knowledge.
They became infamous and went down hill.
Thursday-Saturday is Ribeye night. Even waited for the perfect medium rare steak to finish. Two of us ended up with well done trash. The beef ribs were better. O yeah its advertised as steak and potato nights. The potato is an extra Four bucks. Been traveling though Llano for years and spending up to three weeks at a time during hunting season. Had suspicious that prices were raised during the peak season and they were confirmed this year.
I am a vegetarian and I still like coming here. The sides and desserts are great. I usually make a cheese sandwich and get small tubs of coleslaw and potato salad and am satisfied with that. Open pits out front that you walk up to and pick what you want inside they weigh it and wrap it up for you. They have bags of bread and pickled jalapenos at the table which is bench picnic tables. The also have hot pots next to the utensils with beans and bbq sauce.
This place was very crowded on a Sunday early evening. The BBQ was okay. Ive had much better. The beans were good and free which was nice. They don't have regular BBQ sauce. There is a big pot next to the beans with this watery mixture of vinegar and something else like catsup. Wasn't good at All! I bought their Beef Jerky, which I liked. Not too sweet like a lot of others. They offer a side dessert of a pecan cobbler and it was very good. Give it a try, you may like it more than I did.
Came through Llano after a long day of driving from Abilene to the far side of Austin and back. I had Cooper's on my mind as I passed it on the way down and was able to take advantage of my route to enjoy a fine dinner there on my way home. Awesome place, great pit and service to be emulated. Had the chopped beef and half a chicken with blackberry cobbler and a sweet tea. A great price ($ 20) for a terrific meal and fun. Appreciate you all!
